Hip Hop dancing is once again a part of my daily life! Thank God, it helped save my life. I was in a pretty enraged at circumstances severe depression where I felt trapped into a prison of major problems. Now that I'm hip hop dancing again, I think life is much more beautiful. I take 2 zumba classes a week at the gym, and 2 hip hop dancing classes, 1 at the gym, and 1 at the community college dance department. At the community college choreography class, we have some very skilled and graceful dancers that are naturals at movement, memorization, and natural dancers. I am not one of those students. I had an awesome moment 2 weeks ago when 2 athletic stuents danced down the floor together at the same speed and rhythmn sychronized so well. It was just awesome to watch them! He says he is new at dancing this being only his second class.
I was going through some of my favorite songs today and I want to choose my favorite pop and classic rock or techno or hip hop songs to dance to and come up with some semi good choreography and then film myself dancing to a variety of songs and then upload those songs and my dancing to the internet. I suppose if someone hates me this would be their golden opportunity to try to nail me with having a video of me an awkward nice white guy dancing going viral and spreading the word to have others try to laugh at me. It did not stop Napoleon Dynamite from winning the student body president election for his unpopular friend Pedro in the movie and getting laughed at would not stop me. Even the best dancers on Youtube have people talking and saying hateful or rude comments in the message boards you can read.
As I was listening to these songs I love and think are fun and make me want to get up and dance I was trying to think up and imagine what dance moves that In would do in my head. I did not get up and start hip hop dancing in the campus library, though it would have been fun, I would have been distracting to those trying to study...It's not that I am a wimp, it's that I have to respect others needs and dancing whenever or where ever might not be appropriate thing to do.... So when school is out for summer expect a few or a handful of my videos to showcase me dancing. I have a bunch of songs, I just have to pick my favorites and come up with a routine for each one somehow just with my gut intuition and my creativity. This sucks LA WORLD OF DANCE HIP HOP CONCERT IS TOMORROW AND I AM SICK AS A DOG WITH A HORRIBLE COLD4/6/2012
Great, I bought my ticket a month ago! I will call in the morning and see if I can transfer my ticket to the next LA or San Diego world of dance show in 6 months from now. The Les Twins will be performing after flying in from France. I did not plan on getting sick on my day of the best convention of the year with some of the coolest hip hop dancers on stage!
I have been having a great time doing hip hop dancing classes. I have taken 3 semesters so far in the last 3 years. I am excited about growing and improving and finding my own voice to speak through with hip hop dancing. There is no one way to be a good hip hop dancer, the possibilities of unique expression are endless. Tutting can be done so many different ways from how you go fast or slow if you use sharp angles or noodle like curves. I think that by age 38 to 43 I might actually be pretty good at hip hop dancing, not great, but good, and I think that is a reachable goal that I can accomplish if I keep up with taking more classes and more dance workshops held in the area I will be living at. I love it and find it rather theraputic, spiritual, and lot's of fun!
If any of you reading this go to World OF Dance LA this year please say hello to me and tell me that you read my blogs or look at the art on my website I have linked to this site when you see me in attendance walking around the hip hop dancing convention. I am not to cool to talk to or meet new and interesting people, so do not be afraid about introducing yourself to me. There is not going to be to many white men in attendance in the crowd at the event, especially ones who are 32 with a full beard instead of only 17 years old with no facial hair. White guys are in the minority at the World of Dance hip hop dancing events. So I will not be hard to notice or find in attendance.
You are allowed to film the dancing at the convention that you see. As far as uploading it goes I think everyone is Ok and fine with it, but if you make money like google ad sense money on the video you might from my guess get into trouble of making money on someone else's act that you only filmed and did not perform or direct yourself. It is probably better to play it safe and not make the advertising money on your uploaded videos you do not own the creative content for yourself. I personally thought that World of Dance San Diego was 1,000 pounds more awesome than Comic Con of this year. I greatly enjoyed myself and had a much more fantastic time at world of dance this October than I had at comic con in July of this year! You just can't compare the two. World of Dance is so much more thrilling and fun to attend. The shopping for collectibles or art books and window shopping for cute girls to meet and talk to might be better at Comic Con but their were a few fairly cute women at World of Dance to that I saw, and the world of dance women if they performed on stage are talented performing artists and not just good looks without having other things interesting about them going on in their life. The average person is more urban or tough many of them at the hip hop dance concert but unless someone was a hot head with a chip on his shoulder to start with, nobody is going to mess with you. And if they do go get security. Everyone I saw at world of dance loved performing and being part of the community of dancers than out to prove they are the tough ass person to you or anyone else. Hey at comic con they had the guy from Hall H in 2010 who tried to take out another mans eyeball with his click pen over who sat in a seat the strapping young man jock secret closet nerd wanted to fight over. He was just one unstable ticking time bomb about to go off anyways, he was not your typical comic con attendee trying to stab his way to the best seats in the room with a ball point pen. I hope comic con does not let him back or he will for sure go nuts all over again in a future year if he is that kind of crazy inside his head. I don't know if it was because this dance we learned did not have any spins which if done to often in one class can make me dizzy or get vertigo, but somehow in hip hop dance class today "I felt it" and I just went for it. a guy i know formally in class told me this week, "I saw you dancing out there!" and last week he told me, "I see you dancing in class you are pretty good at it" If someone else can see the joy and love and energy I bring into my hip hop dancing I do and and I myself am into the movements or the dancing and "feel alive and sensational and in the moment and happy thinking about good things like winning over a girl without thinking of any one girl I admire and have a crush on in particular while dancing."
Kind of like in Karate classes that I took as a teenager or young adult where I thought about hitting my bullies in the face or chest with each and every kick and punch combination we were practicing in the air against an invisible opponent who I fantasized I was finally getting revenge on for harassing and bullying me around all the time. So today in hip hop dancing class I think I had my best class of dancing ability ever and I was not even thinking about Miniature horses, Savannah cats, my dream house and horse ranch property and not even dancing for the woman of my dreams who if she saw me could see my dancing for her as a sign of love and affection through movement meant as a compliment for her from me...Not today, no sir! Just dancing with high energy because I wanted to feel it and put myself into it and become part of the dancing and the music and not have any self conscious reservations or beat myself up in any way about anything in class that I messed up on a dance move or two or if I brought my near constant fears worries and concerns about girls and school homework with me into dancing class not bad, living the kind of lifestyle that I like to lead doing lots of hip hop dancing classes and class workshops. If only school regular required class homework was as fun as sculpting, horseback riding, or hip hop dancing.
Check out two hip hop dance crews the Elecktralytes and Remote Kontrol. Well worth watching their dancing skills and awesome choreography on YouTube. As a straight guy I can relate to the energy and funkiness that they bring to the movements and story of their dancing styles! This will be my 4th dance class I have taken at a college level for a whole semester. This is going to be my 3rd hip hop dancing class and it is with the same instructor choreographer from last year, so I'm taking him a second time. I'm not sure if I will be "better" at hip hop dancing having this as my 3rd college class in it, but I always have fun and really look forward to dancing and enjoying myself. I know I have trouble keeping up with the memorization of all the shapes and 8 counts we are expected to do, but because I do my best I am proud of myself. This certainly isn't something that my parents pushed me into. This is not something my peers I know in my ceramics or illustration classes understand about me and are able to relate to my love of hip hop dancing. I do it for me because it amuses me and I express myself with my body through movement and dance. I'm never going to be as good as 1/3rd of the class who are gifted or trained dancers, but I know that they are gifted at another level far beyond my dancing ability. We all have fun in the class so it really doesn't matter to much.
I had a blast watching the world of dance concert/convention event in San Diego 9 to 3 hours ago. I shot plenty of video footage of breaking and hip hop dance crews! I didn't know anybody but tried to be social in a formal way with the talented performers that I walked up and introduced myself to! This is one of the best conventions/concerts that I have ever been to! I was one of the oldest people there! Not very many 32 year olds. The average median age would be between 17 to 19 years old. Not very many other white people attended the show. The majority of dancers and attendees came from an asian american background. I saw some crews that I never heard of before whose performances blew me away and I had a really great time being entertained! I will definitely attend more World Of Dance events in the future and I will keep my radar on for more hip hop dance events in the So Cal area!
The only bad part of the show is my damn hd video camera started acting up and not working right, it kept filming for only 8 or 11 seconds and then would get stuck and not keep working. So I could not tape the last hour of the event! I have been looking forward to World of Dance San Diego since June or July! I am going to bring my video camera and hopefully catch some sweet dance moves from the famous crews! The dance show event is this saturday October 15th or 17th ish. If any of my favorite dance crews are there I would love to be able to meet them and give them my business card to check out my website. I would give them free artwork if they wanted it...If they make me feel happy by watching their talented dancing I would like to return the favor with making them pleased also. Someone told me recently that I don't look the type who likes hip hop dancing, well anyone could judge me, but no one can stop me from pursing my passions and interests. Word up

I'm not very good at dancing, but I get a real kick out of hip hop dancing classes! I like it when I feel confident in myself moving my arms, legs, and body around while dancing and not being self conscious just having lots of fun and a good time Archives
