Every year I look forward to going to the LA Festival of Books I can't remember how many times I have gone...but I have gone nearly every year since 2005!
When I go I like to meet people and to network and try to maybe meet a cute girl or other people who also love to collect and read books as much as me. This year I tried talking to a handful of people who I started up a conversation with. One young woman who was a kind of preppy or upperclass goth chick wearing all black lavender one piece mini shirt with dark dyed black hair black eye liner and black shoes like Alice in Wonderland wears would not even respond to me asking her what speakers or acts and panels did she like going to this year? She just looked perplexed at me and walked away. You can't win them all or judge a book by it's cover. One young woman who was with her guy friends at the comic book shop outdoor tent booth told me that no booth babe will ever go for me that they are paid to flirt and paid to be nice and make the guys feel good, that if they see me when they are off work and are still excited to see me then that means something otherwise it is a job and an act for them at comic con. I was telling her guy friends about comic con and what to do or not to do when you attend. She was not someone who looked like a comic con booth babe model herself but she said that she works as a barista and gets hit on and asked out all the time and she has to be nice about it to keep her job, because the guys are customers. I asked her do most booth babes tell guys like me that they will call them or that they remember me from last year's comic con? She said to me don't expect them to ever call you back, it's just a job and they don't want to look bad in front of their boss. That they represent the company as a spokesman. I still do not get it or have a clear answer why a booth babe would try to lead me on by telling me she will contact me and call me and that she remembers me from the year before if she does not mean any of it at all in real life?
Anyways back to the book fair I ran into an old friend I lost contact with who I have not seen in 4 years.
The Festival of Books is a great place for people who like celebrities, large outdoor festivals and social gatherings of friendly people. This is a very family friendly event and they have a large kids stage with famous actors and authors and kids TV show stars come out each year to read a book on stage or do a song and dance for the children. So the festival of books is fun, safe, and enjoyable for single adults or parents with the little kids. They always have food to purchase like any festival or large event will have available for those who attend to find something good to eat. Right now they hold it at USC before it was held at UCLA. It almost always takes place in April in each year.
